Welcome to Term 4

Choir/Singing group

Students are enjoying our Wednesday singing group where we often have over 20 very enthusiastic singers attending.

The group is held weekly at 1.00pm and is offered to students from Years 2-6.

This term in Music, our Foundation students are enjoying action and performance songs all about building, good manners, and teddy bears! They’ll continue exploring instruments and practising how to keep a steady beat, while also developing coordination through fun partner games and body percussion activities. Throughout the term, students will celebrate special occasions such as the Melbourne Cup, Remembrance Day, and Christmas — all while continuing to have lots of fun making music together!

 

This term in Music, students will be:

  • Learn and perform action songs
  • Follow and perform simple dance steps
  • Move to the beat of the music
  • Develop coordination through partner games, dance, and body percussion
  • Build confidence performing in front of others
  • Use facial expressions and actions during songs
  • Practise listening and following instructions
  • Continue to build confidence, creativity, and enjoyment in Music!

Year 1 & 2

This term in Music, Year 1 and 2 students will continue to deepen their sense of beat and rhythm through fun body percussion activities and songs. They’ll refine their technique when playing instruments and practise keeping in time with their peers while performing different rhythms. Students will also enjoy some acting and small group performances, building their confidence and expression in front of an audience. Throughout the term, they’ll celebrate special occasions such as the Melbourne Cup, Remembrance Day, and Christmas — all while having plenty of fun making music together!

 

This term in Music we will:

  • Develop a strong sense of beat and rhythm
  • Revise correct techniques to play instruments
  • Enhance their coordination and control through body percussion activities
  • Move in time with music and stay in sync with others
  • Build confidence performing in front of an audience
  • Cooperate and work effectively as part of a team

Year 3 & 4

This term in Music, Year 3 and 4 students will explore the lyrics, rhythms, and beats of new songs while extending their understanding of written music. They will continue to build confidence performing in front of an audience through mini plays and small group performances, learn new musical terminology, and further develop their ability to play varied rhythms on a range of instruments. Students will also focus on playing together in time, enhancing their teamwork, listening skills, and overall musical awareness.

 

This term in Music, students will:

  • Strengthen their sense of beat and rhythm
  • Coordinate movement and timing with others
  • Perform in front of an audience with confidence and expression
  • Cooperate with peers to improve group performance
  • Play a variety of instruments with rhythm and melody
  • Take responsibility for learning and improving parts of the performance

Year 5 & 6

Mini concert date: 19th of November, 2:15-3:30pm

This term, Year 5 and 6 students have been busy preparing for their special concert, refining their sense of beat, rhythm, and coordination. They are gaining confidence performing on stage, developing strong stage presence, and learning to work effectively as a team. Alongside this, they’ve been expanding their musical skills by playing a variety of instruments, exploring more complex rhythms and melodies, and performing small group skits and raps. Through these activities, students are focusing on expression, energy, and engagement to entertain an audience, building both their performance skills and creative confidence.

 

This term in Music, students will:

  • Perform on stage with confidence and expression
  • Cooperate with peers to improve group performance
