Year 10 Food Technology

We extend our sincere thanks to Nisha, who joined our school this year as our new Food Technology teacher.

Your passion for food shines through in every lesson, sparking curiosity and creativity in our students. You’ve inspired them to explore new flavours, experiment with recipes, and take pride in their creations. We’re so glad to have you on the team!

Year 10 students created beautifully iced cupcakes, showcasing their creativity and thoroughly enjoying the process of learning to pipe with different types of nozzles. They experimented with various designs, colours, and textures, bringing their unique ideas to life. The session not only enhanced their practical skills but also encouraged teamwork and confidence in the kitchen.

Year 10 students showcased their excellent cooking skills this term by creating delicate palmiers filled with vanilla cream and decorating them with intricate sugar art. They demonstrated precision, creativity, and patience in both preparation and presentation. The session allowed them to explore advanced caramelisation and dextrinisation of sugar and start, while expressing their artistic flair. Students thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on experience and took pride in their beautifully finished treats. Their work highlights both skill development and the enjoyment of learning through practical cooking activities.

Senior Art Exhibition

On Tuesday 14th of October, Altona College hosted the Senior Art Exhibition. It was a wonderful success with family and friends turning out to support their students. On display were not only the final Unit 4 VCE artworks that included paintings, sculptures, drawings, installations and digital media, but also year 10 ceramics and amazing designs from Wood Technology.

Well done to all the students who exhibited and Goodluck to our year 12s for all their future endeavours.
