From the Principal's Desk

Week 2
Welcome back for Term 4!
We have a super exciting and very busy term ahead of us.
Unfortunately I will be taking some leave from Friday to have my knee repaired. Emma Polson will relieve in my absence and I hope to be back on deck as quickly as I can manage.
What a wonderful first week of learning we have had!
Some of our teachers started the week enjoying the Field of Mars Environmental centre in Sydney to learn even more about integration of nature and outdoor learning and some of us completed learning from school about Creative Arts education and PE integration. This was a great opportunity to learn more about different ways of delivering learning and integrating subjects.
Our Kindergarten students also had a great first day learning using some of the learning Mrs Pennington did in Sydney.
We will celebrate Grandparents day this Friday from 12pm. All of our students are very excited to have their Grandparents or a special Grandfriend come and see us in class. The 3-6 choir will be performing at assembly at 12:30pm and then all visitors are invited to bring a picnic and stay for lunch.
Creative Arts News
This week we have 6 students travelling to Tamworth for the first of many rehearsals and performances for CAPERS. CAPERS is an arena-style arts production involving 2500 students from public schools across the New England area of NSW. It is held across a whole week in November at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre.
CAPERS will come alive with art displays and music, dance and drama performances and it is a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience a large-scale arena-style production with professional lighting and sound. Have fun girls! We look forward to sharing your experience.
Sporting News
Good luck to our boys heading to Olympic Park for the PSSA State Championships this week. Oliver and Nixon are in a large number of events and they will be joined by Brodie and Beau Matthew for the Senior Boys relay event. We can't wait to watch you and cheer you on!
We were also informed on Monday that the boys broke the Northwest senior boys relay record and Nixon additionally broke the 200m 11 years boys record. Well done boys!
PAX Word of the fortnight: DETERMINATION
Determination is the quality of not giving up when things are hard, and continuing to try to do something until you succeed. It means having a strong desire to do something and sticking with it, even when you feel tired or discouraged. It's the quality of a person who is firmly resolved to achieve a goal and won't let anything stop them.
Sticking with a task:
It's what you have when you keep practicing an instrument every day for hours, or when you keep trying to solve a difficult puzzle until you find the answer.
Not quitting:
If you are determined, you keep pressing on and pushing forward, like climbing a mountain even when it's tough.
Determination is also linked to the You Can Do It Key Persistence.
Don't forget our Interest Group Day
Next Wednesday 29 October, we will be holding an interest group day, allowing students to tap into areas of interest for their learning. The day will be broken into sessions of approximately one hour. This is an approach our school will embrace further in 2026, identifying opportunities for students to access High Potential and Gifted Education opportunities.
We are inviting parents, carers and community members who have an activity they would like to offer for K-2, 3-6 or K-6 to contact the school via phone or email over the coming weeks with any activity ideas. Volunteers who are not parents must have a working with Children check.
Celebrity visitor!
Next Friday 31st October, Costa Georgiadis will be visiting our school! Costa is an Australian author, landscape architect, environmental educator and television presenter. Costa is also the host of ABC television series Gardening Australia, and previously appeared as 'Costa the Garden Gnome' in the ABC Kids program Get Grubby TV. We are all very excited to show him our gardening projects and nature play area.
