Term 4

It’s already Term Four and our Christmas Carols Concert is not too far away. Our students will be rehearsing their carols throughout the term and will be ready to entertain us all on Wednesday, 3 December. Like last year, we’ll be running a sausage sizzle from approximately 4:30pm to 5:30pm and kicking off with our first carols around 5:45pm. Families are welcome to bring along their own picnic rugs, chairs, food, and snacks etc, and hopefully we’ll get some nice weather for the whole school community to enjoy celebrating the festive season together.

Foundation, Year One and Year Two students will be revising the use of tuned percussion instruments and reinforcing their knowledge of rhythmic note values. They’ll also spend some time on the piano keyboards, using GarageBand as well as preparing for their Christmas Carols performances. The Year Three and Four students will be collaborating on the creation of Gamelan Orchestral performances and extending their musical skill and knowledge using several iPad applications. We are hoping to find some time to revise our ukulele knowledge and skills from earlier in the year. Once our Christmas Carols Concert is done, they’ll spend some time having fun with some iMovie experimentation. The Year Five and Six students will also be spending several weeks planning and creating more in-depth iMovie projects whilst preparing for their Christmas Carols performance preparation. They’ll also be revising key musical concepts including beat, rhythm and melody as much as possible.

The Junior and Senior choirs will continue rehearsing during lunchtimes and performing at assemblies. They’re looking forward to some more outdoor assembly performances as the weather improves and to singing at the Christmas Carols Concert later this term.

Thanks,
