CAPA Faculty

Term 4 in CAPA
Drama
In Year 9 Drama, students have been engaging in creative design projects, working individually or in pairs. They had the opportunity to choose from set design, posters, or costume creation, and have done an excellent job showcasing their creativity and understanding of theatrical concepts. As we wrap up our 2025 curriculum content, we are excited to move forward into 2026 with three drama classes, including a new Year 9, Year 10, and HSC students, continuing to foster artistic growth and expression.
Photography
In Photography the new Year 9 group have started their first research task, while our Year 10 group are continuing to develop and hone their Photoshop skills, producing some fantastic images, like the Harris Effect.
The senior photography class made an incredible array of short films, while the outgoing Year 10 photography group showcased their Animated Music Videos to the rest of the class. There was a lot of laughter as well as some fantastic efforts in film-making.
A warm welcome to all of our new photography students.
Visual Arts
All Visual Arts classes have worked hard to develop their material practices in a number of different expressive forms. These included Year 7 making a refined collection of Ancient Egyptian inspired canopic Jars, Year 8 making highly comical ceramic fish, Year 9 starting their suburban POP inspired house paintings and year 10 making soft sculptures of shells to form a group installation. Students in all groups also learnt about the conceptual practice of a number of key artists to support the development and creation of their own works. We look forward to starting the 2026 school year and welcome all new Visual Artist students in year 7, 9 and HSC.
Visual Design
In Visual Design stage 5 year 9 has finished making their architectural models with a focus on exterior house design and year 10 has finished their comic book cover designs and story strip page. Visual Design students also investigated the practice of key designers in architectural and comic design to inform both their material and conceptual design and making.
Music
To finish the academic year, our year 9 Music students were delving into the world of musical theatre. They learned some new songs and began to think about the intricacies of stage design, choreography, and different performance styles. Our year 10 students were preparing for their new lives as preliminary students with some of our HPGE students rehearsing a new song to perform as part of our academic assembly in Spirit Week, the first ever performance for our intrepid guitarist. Well done to our students who successfully completed Stage 5 Music and best of luck for your final two years of secondary schooling.
