Attendance

Attendance at Evans High School

Regular attendance supports student learning, wellbeing and connection to school. At Evans High School, we work closely with families to support students in attending school consistently and engaging positively in their learning.

If your child is absent, parents and carers will receive a text message requesting a reason for the absence. We kindly ask that you respond to this message as soon as possible so the absence can be recorded correctly. If you do not receive a text message, please contact the school front office to ensure your contact details are up to date.

Explanations for absences should be provided within 7 days. Acceptable reasons include illness, medical appointments, recognised religious holidays, or exceptional family circumstances. Absences without an explanation will be recorded as unexplained.

Students under the age of 17 are required by law to be engaged in full-time education, training or approved employment. If a student leaves school before turning 17, families must ensure they are enrolled in an approved pathway such as TAFE, an apprenticeship or traineeship, or full-time work. Until alternative arrangements are confirmed and approved, students are required to continue attending school regularly.

If families are considering changes to their child’s enrolment or pathway, we encourage early contact with the school so we can support a smooth and compliant transition. We look forward to working in partnership with our families in 2026 to support strong attendance and positive outcomes for all students.
