Evans IEC Market Day

Evans IEC Market Day – A Celebration of Learning, Community and Positive Behaviour. Our Intensive English Centre proudly hosted its annual Market Day on Tuesday, Week 9 – 9th December 2025. The event was an exciting culmination of our Stage 4 Commerce unit, Promoting and Selling, giving students a hands on opportunity to apply their learning in a real world market environment.

The Market Day was designed to be inclusive and meaningful for all students, especially our newly arrived immigrant and refugee learners. Instead of using money, students earned coupons through respectful, trustworthy and motivated behaviour, which they used to “purchase” a savoury snack, dessert, and drink from the various stalls.

The event also featured fun games, a bracelet making station, and a special freebie for every student. With 300 students participating, the day was filled with energy, excitement and smiles.

Students shared how much the event meant to them: “I felt really proud to use the coupons I earned. It made me feel like I achieved something.” – Year 7 student.“

This was my first market experience in Australia. I loved choosing my food and making bracelets with my friends.” – Year 8 student.

“The games were so much fun! Winning prizes made my day.” – Year 9 student.

“I liked that everyone got a freebie. It made us feel included.” – Year 10 student.

We were deeply grateful to the global and local businesses who generously supported the event with donations, ensuring that every student had a memorable and rewarding experience. Their contributions helped create a vibrant atmosphere of community, learning and celebration. Market Day was truly a highlight of the term and a wonderful reflection of the values we promote every day at Evans IEC.
