What Do KLA Leaders Do?

KLA Leaders (Key Learning Area Leaders) are teachers who help guide learning in specific faculties subjects like English, Maths, Science, or the Arts. They make sure the curriculum is well-planned, up to date, and taught consistently across all classes. They also support other teachers by sharing ideas, helping with resources, and making sure lessons meet learning goals and are engaging.

KLA Leaders organise faculty meetings, plan excursions, manage budgets, and help improve how subjects are taught. They work closely with school leaders to make sure students get the best learning experience possible. They also help with things like booklists, assessments, and making sure students with different learning needs are supported.

A student might need to see a KLA Leader for:

  • Help with subject choices – if they’re unsure which electives or pathways to take.
  • Ideas for extension or enrichment – if they’re looking for extra opportunities or challenges.
  • Excursion or activity queries – if they have questions about subject-related events.

KLA Leaders are there to support students in making the most of their learning in each subject area.
