What a fantastic start to Term 4 in the Performing Arts space!

This Term we have been focussing on Drama.

The Preps have started looking at using different stories to explore how we can turn story books into role-play.

The students have looked at the Hungry Caterpillar and Possum magic, acting out different parts of the story and focussing on character development through story telling.

The Year 1 students have continued focussing on fairytales. They have looked at the story of Jack and the Bean stalk.

The students re-imagined what could be at the top of the Beanstalk, by drawing and improvising a short dramatic scene.

Then they looked at the Giants point of view of how he was feeling. The students wrote down what they would say to the Giant if they were Jack.

They had to try to convey their emotion using their voice and facial expressions.

The Year 2 students have been further developing their understanding of characterisation through multiple short-scripted plays and improvisation.

The students explored changing their voice to portray different characters and emotions using the script of the familiar story ‘The Gruffalo’.

The students also have enjoyed playing improvisation games, such as ‘The Bus stop’.

The aim of the game is to improvise a short scene to give the other actor a reason to leave the bus stop, without touching them. E.g Having a cold or spilling something on them etc.

Kind regards,
