Tales From Teaching & Learning

Hello families,

VTLM 2.0

Last term we shared with you a document released by the Victorian Academy of Teaching and Leadership which explained the Victorian Teaching and Learning Model (VTLM) 2.0 in parent friendly language.

The Victorian Academy of Teaching and Learning has now provided further information on their website to support families in understanding the VTLM 2.0 and how it helps children learn. We encourage all families to follow the link to Helping every child succeed: VLTM 2.0

Math Fact Fluency

It has been fantastic to hear from a number of students about their level of engagement and use of the Maths fluency programs Numbots and Math Fact Lab at home. Please keep encouraging your children to log on, even for just 10 minutes per day, to support their maths fact fluency. Research continues to show how automaticity with basic number facts in addition and multiplication and their associated subtraction and division facts, greatly supports students when they tackle more complex concepts in Mathematics and they move through senior primary school and into secondary school.

You can read the following article from Education Week for further information on why becoming fluent in maths facts is so important  What is Math ‘Fact Fluency’ and How Does it Develop?
