Exciting News: Mrs Low Receives the Goethe Scholarship for 2025!

We are thrilled to announce that our German teacher, Mrs. Low, has been awarded the prestigious Goethe Scholarship to study in Berlin from 22 June to 5 July 2025!

This scholarship, funded by the German Government through the Goethe Institute, offers a unique opportunity for foreign language teachers of German to enhance their skills and cultural understanding.

The course that she will undertake will focus on effective teaching methods for German as a foreign language, exploring how adolescence affects language learning and incorporating insights from German youth culture. Participants will engage in practical activities, lesson planning, and peer exchange, all aimed at improving their teaching practices and fostering international collaboration.

We are incredibly proud of Mrs. Low’s achievement and look forward to seeing how her experience will enrich our school community!

2024 China Trip

Our 29 Year 10 and Year 11 students are preparing for an exciting and challenging adventure as they embark on a trip to China from 7 to 19 December 2024. The students will visit Beijing, Shanghai, and Xi'an, exploring many iconic cultural landmarks, including the Terracotta Warriors, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Shanghai Tower, and Disneyland!

One of the highlights of the trip will be a visit to a local school in China, where students will have the opportunity to learn about the Chinese education system firsthand. This visit will allow our students to engage with local students, observe the differences and similarities in classroom environments, and gain a deeper understanding of the school culture in China. It's a unique chance for our students to broaden their global perspectives and learn how education functions in another part of the world.

In addition, students will visit the Australian Embassy in Beijing, where they will learn about the work and role the embassy plays in supporting Australian citizens abroad, as well as fostering international relations and cooperation. A special thank you to Chris, a former Chinese student of ours, for allowing us this unique opportunity to visit the embassy.

The goals of this trip include fostering cultural understanding, enhancing language skills, promoting personal growth, and cultivating a global perspective among our students. Through these immersive experiences and interactions, students will gain a deeper appreciation of Chinese culture and develop skills that will benefit them long after the trip is over.

We can’t wait to share the photos and experiences of our students with the school community! This trip promises to be an enriching and memorable experience for all involved.
