On Thursday the 28th of November the Senior school leadership team attended a conference organised by the Heads of House. This day was to welcome in the new leaders across all three houses from years 10 -12.
The day started off with a guest speaker, Alex Lee who was the 2023 school captain. He spoke on time management and how to juggle leadership and school. In addition, we had the head of Wellbeing come and speak to us around how to maintain positive mental health through difficult challenges that arise through leadership.
Later on, we had a session dedicated to planning out the year through breaking up into smaller groups and deciding on community focus day themes. This will be extremely useful in setting us up well for the year to come and being on top of things early. To finish off the day Ms Westmore came and spoke on the Reconciliation Action Plan where we spent some time brainstorming how we can implement initiatives into school.
A massive thank you to everyone who attended the day, it was a great way to get to know each other better and communicate what we want done next year. We really appreciate the hard work that Mr Healey, Mr Henderson and Mr Shannon put in to make this day possible.
VIC VICE is a virtual reality platform designed to give our Vocational Major (VM) students the opportunity to explore, engage with, and experience various workplaces.
Last week, VM WRS and Pathways staff participated in training on how to use VIC VICE’s virtual reality headsets. These headsets allow students to immerse themselves in a wide range of work environments through VR technology. With the training now complete, we can borrow the VR devices from our local learning and employment network at no cost.
This 360-degree immersive experience enables VM students to take interactive tours of industries beyond our geographic region and visit workplaces that may otherwise be difficult to access.
Additionally, students can use the job interview simulator, which provides a safe, stress-free environment to practice their interview skills. The simulator guides students through the entire interview process, from selecting appropriate attire to the final handshake. They respond to real interview questions and receive instant feedback with targeted suggestions for improvement.
