Year Two - Spotlight on Learning

Dear Parents,

We were so excited to welcome our children into Damascus this morning. What a happy bunch they were and quick to settle! We may have only had one day this week but it was wonderful seeing our students smiling and interacting happily with their peers. We focused upon how we might have old friends but we have the great opportunity this year to also make new friends. 

Next Week’s Learning: 

Religious Education focus: St Paul’s story to Damascus and understanding our thoughts about this scripture and comparing our life to St Paul’s.

Structured Literacy focus: Students will learn to read and spell words using the ‘fszl’ rule (when to double these letters). The story, ‘The Family Tree’ will be read and students will unpack key vocabulary within the text. For writing, students will undertake activities relating to the read story and will review the conjunction ‘and’.

Mathematics focus: Place Value - reading, writing, ordering and making two and three digit numbers.

Social/ Emotional Learning & RRRR: Our Safety Network and Trusted Adults

Reminders:

All students must wear a hat for recess and lunchtime.  

For fruit break it would be helpful for your child if their fruit or vegetables were cut up into small pieces. 

Bring labelled art smocks in preparation for Visual Art lessons.
