The Secretary's Award
Tenterfield High School received a Secretary's Award from the NSW Department of Education at Presentation Day on Friday.
The Secretary's School Achievement Award is a prestigious award presented to public schools demonstrating achievements in teaching and learning outcomes, leadership, supporting the students and/or creating a sustainable learning environment. Our outstanding improvement in HSC results and outstanding growth in Yr 7- 9 reading and numeracy were the main reasons for the award.
Well done to the THS team on this achievement, congratulations!
Sue Larkey Empowers THS in Neurodivergent Student Support Session
Tenterfield High School was privileged to host renowned autism and neurodiversity expert Sue Larkey for two transformative workshops that illuminated pathways to supporting neurodivergent students. In her first session, open to staff, community members, and professionals, Sue Larkey delivered a fabulous presentation on "Making School a Success for Neurodivergent Students". The workshop was a masterclass of practical strategies, packed with insights into understanding and supporting neurodiverse learners both in educational and home environments.
The following day, Sue delved deeper with teaching staff in an intensive workshop focused on behaviour strategies and practical approaches for neurodivergent students. Her fast-paced, engaging style kept participants captivated, offering a treasure trove of actionable tips and understanding.
The THS Support Faculty enhanced these remarkable sessions with a delightful grazing table, creating a welcoming environment that complemented the inspiring learning experience. Sue Larkey's workshops were not just informative – they were a beacon of hope and practical guidance for educators and families supporting neurodivergent students.
The Grinch Performance
The "Grinch Who Stole Christmas" performance has come to a successful conclusion! It was an outstanding production and a fitting finale to our Presentation Day. Congratulations to the students, Mr Kelly, and his team of supporters for their exceptional efforts in bringing this performance to life.
Thank you to our special guests & families for taking the time to attend today. We appreciate your ongoing support of Tenterfield High School.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Charlotte & Jahmal on their 2025 selection into the Congress Design Lab. The Congress Design Lab, led by the National Indigenous Youth Education Coalition (NIYEC), is an exciting initiative focused on co-designing a first-ever National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Student Congress. This program brings together Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to create a platform for young mob to connect and exercise their agency and voice in shaping education systems and policies. The Champion Group, a core part of the lab, will meet for three online co-design workshops over 2025 to collaboratively design the structure and purpose of the Congress. Grounded in self-determination, the lab empowers students to contribute to a future-focused education system that reflects their aspirations and cultural strengths.
Orientation Day
On the 3rd December we had the pleasure of welcoming our Year 7 class of 2025 for their final transition day. The day's activities included a guided tour of the agricultural plot with Ms Parker, where students explored the shearing shed, handled rams, and examined the teeth of cows. Students also engaged in physical education with Mr Cook in the MPU and participated in mathematics with Mr Everett. Thank you to the student helpers, the SRC, Mrs Cooper and Mrs Koch for ensuring everyone had a great day. We look forward to seeing everyone in their THS uniforms on Thursday, February 6, 2025!

The TAFE "Start Your Trade" Auto course concluded on 6 December. We extend our gratitude to the Educational Pathways program for its significant success in inspiring our students this year to explore various vocational career pathways.
