Year 5 Leadership Program

The fun and learning continues.

Last week the Year 5 leaders and Mrs Carey, Mrs Macdonald and Mr Firth learnt together about empathy. Do you know the important difference between empathy and sympathy? Check out the Brene Brown empathy video on YouTube for inspiration.

The students brainstormed what empathy looks like, feels like and sounds like. It was decided by the group that it is important to be empathetic, to be inclusive and to have connection. Empathy supports connection and builds belonging.

This important group of students of leaders for 2025 also explored what it means to be an upstander rather than a bystander. We couldn’t be prouder of this cohort. Many of them are prepared their application for leadership positions and presented them to the Year 4-6 students on Monday. The school has a rigorous leadership program that is to be celebrated. Stay tuned to find out who will hold the new positions for next year but know that all our Grade 6 students are considered leaders.
