Community Engagement
It has been an action packed year, with a variety of events organised by members of the Community Engagement Sub Committee including, the Foundation-Grade 2 morning tea, Welcome Back BBQ, a night out for Mother's Day organised by Samantha and Linda, Grandparents morning tea, the movie event at Balwyn Cinema with dress ups, prizes and lots of laughter, Father's Day Breakfast, Spring Expo with BBQ and Minute to Win It Games which was loads of fun and our Carols this week. The Coffee Clubs throughout the year have been a great opportunity to connect with each other and our last one for the year was our biggest morning get together which was made even more special by all of the children joining us to share in the delicious fruit platters donated by Viva La Fruit. We look forward to connecting again next year when we welcome new families to the school.
John Lee, Brice Shen and Christine Baker have done a wonderful job of setting up the
school's first Multicultural Working Group which acts as an advisory group to work with Susanne, school council and various sub committees to engage with the varied cultural groups that make up the school community. This year, as a school we celebrated Lunar New Year and NAIDOC week which were both beautifully coordinated and supported by Lisa Trevorrow who has worked closely with the Multicultural Working Group, together with the families who generously shared aspects of their cultures with us all. We look forward to celebrating other cultures within our school next year so please contact John, Brice or Christine via the office if you are interested in discussing ways to recognise your family's culture together with the school community
Just as an update the school has advised that throughout the year some of the profits from the fete held last year in November have been spent on the following items:
BPPS marquee to keep the children shaded during sporting activities, BPPS tear drop banner, soccer goals, 2 sets of giant Connect 4, 2 sets of outdoor Jenga, outdoor Lego, large wooden blocks, new wooden seating and repairs to existing seating including the friendship tree seating which will get a new lease of life next year.
A huge thank you to the Community Engagement Sub Committee for all of the time they have put into meetings, organising, set ups and pack ups! It is a team effort, and all has been very much appreciated. A special shout out to Lisa Di Censo whose youngest child will be graduating this year. Lisa has previously been on school council for a number of years and continued on this year as part of the Community Engagement Sub Committee. Thank you for the huge contribution you have made to the school as a parent volunteer over the years and we will miss seeing you around the school.
We would like to thank the school community for all of your support and participation in the events and would like to invite anyone to reach out to us if you would like to join our team next year. Whether you would like to be involved in coordinating events, attending meetings, helping out at a BBQ, organising a donation, making suggestions, giving feedback or washing aprons, any assistance at all is welcome, so please contact us via bppscommunityengagement@gmail.com and we will be in contact to have a chat.
Have a wonderful holiday.
Warm wishes
Community Engagement Sub Committee
