Student Wellbeing and Engagement

Wellbeing support during the school holidays

During the school term, all classrooms engage in Social and Emotional Learning activities to equip students with the skills to boost their wellbeing and seek help when they need it. Every child is invited to consider five people in their lives (school and home) that they can talk to if they need help. Ask your child about who they chose and why.

You can support wellbeing by encouraging your child to:

  • Exercise and eat healthily to boost their mood

  • Prioritise sleep to support mental and emotional wellbeing

  • Explore relaxation techniques and coping strategies

  • Stay in touch and catch up with friends and loved ones

  • Make time to do things they enjoy

  • Practise positive self-talk, and remind them they are not alone

Seek professional help if needed (visit the below websites for advice).

Signs a child may need extra support from a professional:

  • Loss of interest or involvement in activities normally enjoyed

  • Feeling ‘low’, unusually stressed or worried

  • Ordinary things get harder

  •  Easily irritated or angry

  • Taking more dangerous risks, like using alcohol or drugs
  • Withdrawal or feeling overwhelmed
  • Difficulties with concentration and motivation
  • Having a lot of negative thoughts
  • Changing in sleeping and eating

Child safety and wellbeing at Springvale Rise Primary School: information for families and the school community

Springvale Rise Primary School is committed to providing an environment where students are safe and feel safe.

Our child safety framework includes policies, codes and procedures that explain how we support and maintain the safety and wellbeing of our students and protect them from harm. These documents are available on our website: https://springvaleriseps.vic.edu.au/

We are also committed to continuous improvement of our child safety framework. We are currently reviewing our child safety policies and practices to ensure they are up-to-date and effective. Our students and families are important partners in this process. We welcome your feedback or ideas on ways we can improve our approach to child safety and wellbeing.
