A Spotlight on Learning in the MLC on Heights Campus

Over the past term, the MLC students have been working diligently across all areas of the curriculum, showcasing their growing skills, creativity, and enthusiasm for learning.

In Reading, students have focused on exploring online texts to practise key comprehension strategies. They developed a deeper understanding of literal and inferred meanings by combining text clues with their prior knowledge. They also enhanced their vocabulary by inferring the meaning of unknown words and using dictionaries and thesauruses to expand their understanding.                                               

In Writing, students have been perfecting their persuasive techniques. They learned to write and present strong arguments supported by evidence, with these skills being put to the test during engaging classroom debates. Students confidently presented their viewpoints, demonstrating their growing ability to persuade an audience effectively. 

Throughout this term in Mathematics, students have been creating and solving real-life division problems and justifying their most effective strategy used to solve it. They have also been working on estimating the capacity of objects (up to 1 litre) and ensuring they used the correct units of measurement.

In Projects, creativity took centre stage as students designed and marketed innovative toy concepts. They explored persuasive devices such as colour, font size, images, captions and emotive language to craft compelling advertisements. Using persuasive language, students presented their designs in advertising posters that aimed to capture the attention of thier audience and convince them to purchase their toys. 

The MLC students have demonstrated outstanding effort and enthusiasm throughout the term, applying their skills across a wide range of subjects. And, the MLC teachers are incredibly proud of all students for their dedication and achievements this year.
