A Message from the Principal

Dear Parents and Guardians,

The students are enjoying a happy start to the new year today.  It was wonderful to welcome our Preps yesterday and once again, hear the chatter of happy children around the school.

This year we begin with a focus on student wellbeing. All classes are dedicating the first two weeks to getting to know each other, setting up school routines and expectations and revisiting school rules.

Our School Rules

Every member of our school community has a right to fully participate in a Catholic learning environment that is safe, supportive, and inclusive. Everyone deserves to be treated with respect and dignity. We believe students learn best when they feel safe and happy in a caring, supportive and engaging environment. We foster positive, tolerant and respectful relationships.

At St Joseph the Worker we:

  •  follow directions
  •  listen to the speaker
  •  speak appropriately
  •  keep our hands and feet to ourselves
  •  take care of property and the environment and
  •  move safely

Communication

Effective and timely communication is very important. Our newsletter is online via our website and available for all members of our community to access. We also use our Audiri app to keep parents informed regarding events and news related to our school. All school events are listed on the calendar. From next week, all notes that are sent home will be uploaded to the school app so if you misplace one, it can be easily located on the app.

Parents should note that if you are sending an email, teachers may not be able to respond immediately as they will be busy with their teaching responsibilities. Parents can expect an answer to their email within 24 hours’ time and only within business hours.  As you would be aware, teachers have the right to disconnect outside of work hours and will not be responding before 8.30am and after 4.30pm.

Working together

Strong home-school partnerships thrive on positive relationships, and effective communication between teachers and parents is key to building these relationships. While teachers are dedicated to educating students, they may not always be immediately available for casual conversations with parents. For minor, non-learning related concerns, parents are welcome to briefly connect with teachers after school. However, for more significant matters related to a child’s learning, it’s best to schedule a dedicated time to meet. This ensures there is ample opportunity for a thorough discussion and collaborative problem-solving to support the student’s needs. I encourage parents to reach out via email or, ideally, to arrange an appointment so that we can address concerns in a focused and productive manner.

If you have any concerns, queries or feedback, please do not hesitate to contact me or a member of the leadership team at any stage. For classroom matters or concerns regarding your child, please email your child's teacher.
