Congratulations!

Congratulations to Year 10 student, Archie Elliott, on placing 29th out of 106 in the Under 16 Boys State Cross Country on Thursday. Archie's official time was 19'47'' for the 5km event. This is a wonderful achievement for Archie in wet, cold and muddy conditions.

Black Ranges Intermediate Basketball

Last week, we headed down the highway to Ararat for the Black Ranges Intermediate Boys Basketball tournament. This year we had three teams entered, which was wonderful to see so many students wishing to be involved.

St Brigid's C team played with great spirit and there were lots of memorable moments, including the first game where Archie scored several three-pointers. Seth played well, scoring a number of baskets. Callum drove the ball well, along with Jett W, and Jett M who was always available on the side to support. Rory was strong through defence.

St Brigid's B team also had success in several games. Riley and James showed their aerial skills, with Finn, Jack and Nick supporting and scoring regularly. Tom was never far off the ball and always supporting his team.

St Brigid's A team were very unlucky not to make the grand final, only missing out by percentage. The team won all their games and drew with Horsham College. Darcy and Angus were pivotal on the rebounds and defence, with Jonty and Lewis ably assisted by the team as the play makers. Franciz and Max were all over the court supporting and making a few baskets throughout the day.

Thank you to Mr Walker, and Claire, a pre-service teacher on placement with us, for coaching on the day.

Black Ranges Senior Basketball

On Monday we had two teams compete in the Black Ranges Senior Basketball Tournament.

The boys team played in Ararat and had a wonderful day of competition and had the opportunity to meet and engage with other schools from across the region. We welcomed Gian, our Year 11 exchange student from Italy, to the team. After a quick lesson and description of the basic rules, Gian took to the court and was able to make a hoop in his second game. We thank all our senior students for their encouragement and enthusiasm on the day.

The girls played at the Horsham Basketball Stadium and also had a great day of competition. Hannah ran her heart out shooting well with a few three pointers and plenty of goals. Tayla drove hard down the court alongside Jarrah who took many steals. Iris had many intercepts and Mia's rebounding and goals were excellent.

Enid, Keely and Madison assisted with some great moves throughout the games and it was great to see smiles on the court. The team won their first two games against Murtoa College and Marian College, which put them into the grand final against Horsham College. They held their own and battled well but unfortunately didn't come out with the win. A big thank you to our students and parent volunteer, Casey P, who assisted with umpiring. Well done to the team for their fantastic efforts and positive attitude.
