Navigating the Digital World Safely

Young people today love to play, connect and learn online. This valuable free session aims to provide parents and carers/guardians with insights and important information about popular online experiences to which children are exposed.

 

The session will be presented by The Cyber Safety Project in partnership with Box Hill High School, and will cover topics including:

  • social networking trends
  • strategies and resources for cyber bullying
  • how to take control in relation to unwanted contact
  • sexting, image based abuse and the law
  • establishing positive relationships and how to report cyber abuse.

Talking to young people about gambling

Join this free session about the risks of gambling among young people, and the role parents and carers can play in influencing attitudes and access to gambling.

 

When: Tuesday 10th September 2024, 6:00 pm –7:00 pm

Delivered by Gambler’s Help Eastern, the one-hour session will cover:

  • facts, risks and issues of young people and gambling
  • local gambling harm information
  • how to identify signs of gambling harm
  • how to help young people avoid harm from gambling
  • where to get professional advice and support.

The session is open to parents and carers of all Box Hill High School students.

 

Be Ahead of the Game is a gambling awareness program for young people. It helps school communities understand how young people may be affected by gambling and mitigate the risks. The research-backed program is developed by the Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation in partnership with Gambler’s Help community educators.
