What's been happening in the 5/6 Classrooms
Mrs Nietvelt, Miss Howard & Mrs Caldwell
This term, Year 5/6 students are immersed in a diverse and engaging curriculum. They are exploring the novel Holes, diving into multiplication and division in maths, and participating in hands-on science experiments through the Mappen program. Their science studies include light refraction, electrical circuits, states of matter, and the scale of the solar system, with exciting projects like building a thermoscope, creating circuits, and launching balloon-powered rockets. Students will also present their findings at the end of the unit by creating a PowerPoint focusing on a scientific phenomenon.
A term highlight has been the Mini Olympics, where Year 6 students teamed up with their younger buddies for an hour of sports and fun. This event fostered teamwork, sportsmanship, and a strong sense of community, providing a wonderful opportunity for older and younger students to connect. Overall, it’s shaping up to be an inspiring and action-packed term full of learning and excitement.
Looking forward to the end of the term, we also have our school camp in Anglesea from September 9th to 11th (week 9). We kindly ask that permission notes and medical forms be returned to school ASAP. These can be handed into the office directly or to classroom teachers.
