Assistant Principal's Report

Georgia Despotellis

At CSPS we are proud of the wonderful work we are doing in the wellbeing area. Please see below for information about our Chill-Out Zone (COZ) and on the next page, read about our SWPBS work.

Chill-Out Zone (COZ)

The Chill-Out Zone (COZ) is open every day during lunchtime from 2.15pm until 2.40pm for all students and is supervised by two staff members (one being from the Wellbeing Team). It is very well-resourced encouraging students to either complete activities on their own or engage in partner or group tasks.

The Performing Arts area of the room is intended for quiet activities such as reading, drawing, floor puzzles and board games. The other side of the room is set up for group activities. There are two Lego tables, two sensory sand stations, train sets, large blocks, a magnetic marble run, hand puppets etc.

Before the space was officially open, rules and procedures were discussed with the students and put in place. The COZ is very popular with students who need a break from the yard, want to play with their friends and/or be creative. Initially we had to adopt a waiting list system, as we could not accommodate all students. This is not the case anymore and no student is turned away. It has also been wonderful to see the Preps playing and connecting with their Year 5 Buddies.

Here are photos and some feedback from our students:
