Year 5 Classroom Teacher
What is your role in the college?
I am a Year 5 classroom teacher - shoutout to 5I! My role is all about building on what students already know and helping them reach their full potential. I strive to create a supportive, engaging and welcoming classroom where every student feels safe to learn and grow. For me, teaching is about encouraging curiosity, supporting each student’s unique journey, and celebrating their progress along the way. I’m so proud of how far the students have come already, and I’m excited to see all the amazing growth still to come this year.
If you could shout out 1 staff member, who would you choose right now?
There are so many amazing staff I’ve met since joining Trug, but I’d love to give a shoutout to Miss. Naidoo - my fellow SAFFA! It’s been so lovely to share a few laughs, stories, and little reminders of home with someone who just gets it. Plus, it’s always nice to hear a familiar accent around school!
Can you share a happy day or memory from your life?
One of my happiest days was my graduation day! After years of hard work, late nights and lots of coffee, finally walking across that stage surrounded by cheers and applause, felt surreal. I remember feeling so proud, slightly overwhelmed and mostly just trying not to trip in front of everyone! It was a special reminder that perseverance really pays off and that you should always celebrate your wins, big or small.
If you could instantly master one skill, what would it be?
I’ve often wished I’d learnt how to play an instrument like the guitar or something more traditional like the harmonium. I’ve always loved music and enjoy a good sing-along, usually when no one’s listening haha. It’s something I’d still love to pick up one day, so watch this space!

A classic Scottish steak pie.
If you could shout out 1 staff member right now, who would you choose?
Colin Bright, thanks for being my free therapist and giving me advice my mum would approve of!
What is your best advice to feel good on a bad day?
Have a Pepsi max.

Emotional Support/Wellbeing Officer
How would your humans describe you in three words?
My humans think that I'm a lot of wonderful things but mostly they'd say that I'm cheeky, loving and cuddly.
What is something you are grateful for today?
Today I am feeling grateful for my mum, Miss Porter. She is the best mum ever because she cuddles me, feeds me and brings me to work with her.
She also gave me a chicken nugget (or three) for lunch!
What are your favourite toys to play with?
I love to chew on any toys with a squeaker inside, I currently love playing with the blue Rhino in mum's office.
What’s your favourite snack?
Definitely some roast chicken.
Where’s your favourite spot to nap at school?
In my bed, on top of my mum's desk.
How do you feel about bath time?
'Bath time' is technically 'Shower time' in my world and I actually love it so much! Especially putting my face under the shower head and letting the water give me a little massage.
What's your favourite part about coming to school?
The best part about coming to school are all the many belly rubs from staff and students.
Some of the school budget should go towards more microwaves!

Cold weather is better than hot. Cold weather wins for me! You can warm up with layers or a cosy drink but when it’s hot, there’s only so much you can do to cool down! Plus, cold weather means snuggling up with a good movie and a warm blanket in the evenings - ideal!"
