MANDARIN

Course Description:  

Year 10 Mandarin offers students the opportunity to build confidence and independence in using Chinese to communicate in real-world contexts. This course bridges the junior years and VCE Chinese Second Language, focusing on refining students’ skills in listening, speaking, reading, writing, and viewing; as well as learning new vocabulary and grammar to support effective communication. Students will express their ideas creatively and persuasively, participate in conversations and role plays, and work collaboratively to share information on topics that are relevant to their lives. They will also learn strategies to understand unfamiliar words and reflect on how language and culture shape how we interact with others.

• Topic Tests (Reading and Writing) 
• Oral Presentations and Role Plays (Listening and Speaking) 
• Research Assignments 
• Semester Examinations 

Pathway: 

Students who wish to undertake VCE Chinese Second Language are strongly advised to select this course.
