Jesus – The Life of the Party
How do you start a birthday party? What do you need?
Decorations such as balloons, streamers, and lights. Maybe hats and whistles, and most importantly a cake with birthday candles.
But actually, the most important part about a birthday party is the people and the birthday person themselves. It’s a bit difficult to have a birthday party without the birthday person. And it is not much of a party without people celebrating the birthday with the birthday person.
Life with Jesus is like him having a birthday party and he invites everyone to celebrate with him. And he loves us to start the party with him. Jesus wants us to tell others about his party so they too can join in the fun.
As Jesus speaks about in Matthew 5:14-16:
“You are like light for the whole world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead it is put on the lampstand, where it gives light for everyone in the house. In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven."
Jesus is the ultimate light of the world and lights us up like birthday candles to shine and tell others about Jesus and start the party with him. Just like we can’t sing happy birthday until the candles are lit, Jesus lights you with his love so we can sing and celebrate with Jesus. We are Jesus’ party starters with him.
Enjoy celebrating with Jesus and let others know about Jesus’ party too by being his party starters. A party of living in God’s loving relationship in Jesus Christ and loving others.
