Geere Earns Queensland U18 AFLW Selection

Year 12 student Mia Geere to compete on national stage

Rising AFLW prospect, Mia Geere, has been selected for the second year in the Queensland Under 18 Girls Squad for the 2025 Marsh AFL National Championships – the premier stage for the nation’s top-tier emerging football talent.

A standout for Wilston Grange and a product of the Brisbane Lions Academy, Geere will represent Queensland in a four-game campaign stretching from June 22 to August 10, competing against the best young players from across Australia.

The championships, a key pillar of the AFL’s Talent Pathway Program, are widely regarded as the gateway to elite women’s football. Queensland opens its campaign in Victoria against Western Australia, before returning home to face Victoria Country and the Allies, with their final clash scheduled against South Australia in Adelaide.

Known for her clean hands, composure, and strong work ethic through the midfield, Geere has been earmarked as one to watch in the 2026 draft class. Her selection is a testament to her continual development and consistent performances across both club and academy fixtures.

Clayfield College MTB Team Take on Inaugural MTB Schools Event at Castle Hill

History made as Clayfield College debuts in mountain biking

Clayfield College Sports first mountain biking team made its debut at the Rocky Trail Academy Schools Event held at Castle Hill, Ipswich, marking a significant milestone as the College enters this exciting new sport. On a crisp morning, riders from across Southeast Queensland gathered to take on the renowned “World Cup” terrain in a high-energy day of competition.

Racing followed the Rocky Trail Academy Enduro format, with competitors tackling three timed stages; The Shimano, The Bomber, and The Sendy, each designed to challenge riders’ endurance, technical skill, and speed. Athletes had up to five runs per track, with their fastest time on each counting toward their overall result.

Our riders showed tremendous grit and enthusiasm, earning valuable points in their first competitive outing. Bonus points were also awarded to riders who placed in the top five on any stage, contributing to the tally for Overall Champion School.

It was a day of adrenaline, learning, and school pride. A massive congratulations to our pioneering MTB team, Daniel Gallagher, Flyn Mantsio, Alex Frith and Tom Pain. We can’t wait to see where this new trail leads!

It was a roartastic afternoon on the oval as our Pre Prep to Year 1 students took part in their annual Cross Country Carnival an event bursting with colour, creativity, and boundless energy! Dressed as their favourite animals, students added a splash of whimsy with fluffy ears, swishy tails, and sparkly wings, that brought the course to life.

The afternoon kicked off with our smallest stars, the Pre Preps, confidently completing one lap of the course many with smiles as bright as their costumes. The Prep students followed, taking on two laps with impressive determination and cheerful spirit. Finally, our Year 1s hit the track, proudly racing through three laps, cheered on by enthusiastic family and friends.

From start to finish, the carnival was a celebration of movement, imagination, and joyful participation. Each student should feel incredibly proud of their effort and courage. We certainly are!

A special thank you is extended to all the families who came along to support. Your cheers, encouragement and warm smiles made the day even more special. We can’t wait to welcome our budding young athletes back for Games Day next Term!
