Arts Day Workshops – Final Reminder to Register
Earlier this week, students were sent the list of exciting workshops available for Arts Day and asked to read through the options to make their selections. These workshops offered a fantastic opportunity to explore creative areas such as stage combat, musical theatre, dance, visual arts, yoga, and more.
Students were given the choice to register for either two 1-hour workshops or one 2-hour workshop. This is a final reminder that if you have not yet registered, this is your last chance to do so.
Musical
This Friday is the final stage of our Alice in Wonderland JR. auditions, with selected students reading for lead roles. It has been fantastic to see so much talent and enthusiasm throughout the process. Next week, students will be notified if they have been cast in a lead role, the Wonderland ensemble, or as part of the dance team. Well done to everyone involved – we’re excited to bring this magical story to life!
Choral Workshop and Concert with Brisbane Boys' College
On Wednesday 18 June, Clayfield College’s Canzona and Ciao Bella Choirs, along with our Ragazzi boys' choir, will be hosting a choral workshop in collaboration with Brisbane Boys’ College. Together, we’ll be preparing two beautiful movements from Fauré’s magnificent Requiem.
Afternoon Schedule:
- 3:30 to 5:00pm: Combined Choral Workshop (Clayfield College and Brisbane Boys' College)
- 5:00 to 5:30pm: Rehearsal
- 5:30 to 6:00pm: Dinner
- 6:00pm: Concert
The evening concert will feature performances from each individual choir, as well as the collaborative works rehearsed during the workshop. This promises to be a wonderful musical experience and a fantastic opportunity for our students to perform together.
We look forward to finishing the term on a high note! Please register your attendance to the concert via the link below.
Opera Queensland Student Casting Opportunity
As proud sponsors of Opera Queensland (OQ), Clayfield College is thrilled to offer exciting casting opportunities for our students! Thanks to this partnership, students have a unique chance to participate in an upcoming OQ production.
Opera Queensland is currently casting the Children’s Chorus for the 2025 season production of Puccini’s La bohème, presented in association with QPAC and Brisbane Festival.
This new co-production with West Australian Opera is directed by Matt Reuben James Ward and conducted by Queensland Symphony Orchestra Chief Conductor Umberto Clerici. Audiences will be transported to a 1920s Parisian winter, brought to life through Charles Davis’ ingenious large, rotating greenhouse set design.
Performing alongside internationally renowned soloists, the 38-voice OQ Chorus, and the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, this incredible opportunity will nurture young talent, foster a lifelong love of the arts, and provide a rich educational experience.
La bohème will be performed at the QPAC Lyric Theatre from 4 September to 13 September 2025, with five performances, sung in Italian.
