The Magic of the Cup

In an unforgettable display of unity, enthusiasm, and sporting talent, the inaugural Founder's Day Cup Football game became the heart of the school’s lunchtime calendar over the past few weeks—electrifying not just the Senior students, but capturing the imaginations of our entire school community, especially our Year 5 and 6 students.

What began as a new Year 12 initiative quickly snowballed into a school-wide phenomenon. With the Senior students organising everything from team selection and match fixtures to refereeing and commentary, the tournament stood as a shining example of student leadership in action.

What truly elevated the inaugural cup from simply a sporting event to a school spirit movement was the overwhelming response from our students - particularly from boys in Middle School. Inspired by the energy and camaraderie on display, younger students cheered and chanted their house cries with infectious enthusiasm.  Some even created their own mini-league on the ovals at Recess and Lunch, mimicking Year 12's skills and sportsmanship on Breen.

"Moments like these bring our boys together, and cherish the moments"

Alexander Bogoeski - Year 6

"It is moment like these that leave a lasting mark on our boys"

Blake Vespa - Year 6

The grand finale brought the house down with a Staff vs. Students showdown—an event that had the entire school buzzing. Students lined the field with loud and proud cheers, while teachers swapped ties for jerseys and brought their A-game. While the staff held their own admirably, it was the students who walked away with a narrow (and well-earned) 2-1 victory, sealing their place in school folklore.

More important than the score, however, was the sense of inclusivity that the match fostered - bringing us all together as a community on Founder's Day.
