Men’s Health Awareness Week 2025

This week marks Men’s Health Awareness Week 2025, a national initiative that highlights the importance of supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of men and boys across Australia. At St Patrick’s College, we are proud to take part in this initiative by holding our very first Men’s Health Awareness Round on Saturday 14 June.

The round aims to spark conversation, foster connection, and remind our community that health is not just about the body—it is also about the mind and the heart. Too often, young men feel the need to stay silent in the face of stress, injury, or emotional difficulty. This week encourages our students to challenge that silence and instead build habits of support, strength, and early action.

As part of our efforts, all Firsts and Seconds teams across Rugby, Football and Tennis will be wearing blue socks to symbolise their support for men’s health. All other teams will wear blue tape around their arms as a sign of solidarity. Before each Firsts match, team members will read a short preamble to acknowledge the meaning of the round and the importance of taking care of ourselves and each other - both on and off the field.

We warmly invite parents/carers, families, and supporters to show their support by wearing blue to the games. We especially encourage students to invite their fathers, grandfathers, uncles, and male mentors to attend the fixtures, to celebrate the important role they play in our lives and community. Students who are attending to support the round are asked to wear their Supporters’ shirt along with a touch of blue as a sign of unity and solidarity with the men and boys in our community.

Donations can be made at the barbeque stands, with all proceeds going towards organisations that support men’s health initiatives around the country.

This round is not just about sport—it is about connection, care, and starting conversations that truly matter. Together, let us create a culture where every young man feels supported, heard, and valued.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We look forward to seeing a strong show of blue around our College grounds on Saturday 14 June.
