Classroom Timetable: We are continuing to work on an ODD and EVEN week cycle.

Mass of Anointing.

Along with Year 5, we celebrated a Mass with some of the sick, frail and elderly of our parish. We then prepared and served lunch for them.

Good Start Visit

We had a great visit, we spent time in the sandpit, on the swings and met some lovely four-year-old kinder kids. We have also visited the Euroa Kinder.

Religion

Year 6 buddies spent a session working with their buddies on the Old Testament story of Noahs Ark. They were great teachers, focusing on developing fine motor skills through artworks.

We have been learning about the seven Sacraments of the Church beginning with the Sacraments of Initiation - Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist.

Our focus has been on the rituals and symbols of each Sacrament.

During RE sessions, we have also spent some time researching about our new Pope.

Literacy

We have completed our class novel: 'Us Mob Walawurru' by David Spillman and Lisa Wilyuka. This novel is set in Central Australia in the 1960's. It follows the life of Ruby, a young Luritja girl. Living on a cattle station Ruby is faced with many situations and dilemmas resulting from cultural differences, education, language, family obligations, relationship to country and environment.

By the 1960's many Aboriginal people in Central Australia had moved to cattle stations where they could work for rations and shelter.

We are now working on a personal response to the novel.

We have been revising and learning many new terms - coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, appositives, clause, phrases, base words. These are all coming together in our personal responses.

Maths: In maths we have been focusing on fractions! Fractions on numbers lines, ordering and comparing. Making equivalent fractions and simplifying using the highest common denominator. Students are also revising their times tables and we will continue to revisit these each Friday. In small groups we have also been revisiting and checking understanding of the four operations.

Inquiry: We presented some of our Inquiry work at assembly. We have researched the Natural Wonders of the World. We have discovered some interesting facts.

Uniform:

A reminder that students need to be wearing their school uniform each day to school. Students should not to be wearing make up, nail polish and only studs or sleeper earrings. Thank you for your support with this.
