Specialist News

It has been an amazing start to the year in P.E with all classes enjoying the sunshine.
All year levels have been participating in a variety of running games which require them to follow rules, stay in the playing area and work with different groups of peers.
Pearcedale - Baxter Junior Football Club Clinics
We were lucky enough to have volunteer coaches and players from the club come and conduct a free footy clinic for all students in years 1 to 6 as part of their sub-school sport.
The students got to participate in a variety of footy activities including marking, goal kicking, handballing and tackling. Safe to say the taking a specky and tackling bags were a hit!
Congratulations to the students who won some great prizes for the longest kick competitions or the raffle.
Thankyou to PBJFC for giving the students this opportunity - safe to say they all had a ball!
Swimming Trials
On Monday 10th February students who have nominated will attend the Pines Pool to trial for the Division carnival. Times will then be compared to students in our District to see if any are successful for Division qualification.
We cant wait to see out students make a splash!
House Cross Country
Preparations are well underway for our first whole school sporting event - House Cross Country. This event will take place on Friday 21st February. For further information please refer to Compass.
Volunteers are needed for this event. Please accept the invite on Compass if you are available to assist. You will then be required to show your Working with Children card and complete an online OHS induction. Both these things need to be done every year and last the whole year so you wont have to complete it every time you volunteer.
So start clocking up the kms in preparation for what is always a fun event - which house will reign supreme this year.

Social Wellbeing
We have started the year off with some general getting to know you activities in Social Wellbeing. Each year has completed some mindfulness and talked about why and how we can do this throughout our days to help us stay focused on our tasks. We have played some getting to know you games, identifying common interests across our class and also making a start on our workbooks. Term 1 has a very strong focus on our emotions and the Zones of Regulation to better prepare ourselves to be able to name and identify the signs of our emotions.
We also have 1 excursion for the Year 6 students in Term 1 to the Cranbourne Botanical Gardens. More information can be found on Compass about this event.
A new subject has been introduced at CSPS, STEM in 2025. The students will be working on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics projects in the old Environmental Studies room. Mr Holden will be the teacher of this subject.
In week 2 all students worked on getting to know STEM activities using Lego. Working cooperatively with a partner, students had tocreate Lego representations of a variety of things including favorite food, books and things they could not live without. Their partners had to guess what they had created. Another challenge was what would you like to be when you grow up.
I wonder if you can guess what these creations are?
Foundation
Students blew me away with their artistic flair in the first ever lesson. They went on a colour hunt and learned about WARM and COOL colours and created their own MUFASA drawing with oil pastels in warm or cool colours. Many of them are on display in the front office, feel free to stop by and check them out!
Junior School
Students listened to the book You be You and created their own unique fish to go into our collaborative ocean using chalk and oil pastels. Students successfully decorated their fish with two of the Elements of Art; Colour and Pattern.
You can see these proudly displayed in the front office and in the art room.
Middle School
Students have focused on PATTERN and used the round tabe technique to practice drawing lots of different patterns. They also created their own patterns and decorated some paddlepop sticks that will come together as a collaboartive art piece.
Senior School
Students have worked on their collaborative art piece for the up and coming Red Hill Show. Using Van Gogh's painting Sunflowers as inspiration, they each created a unique flower using chalk pastel and oil pastel. I was astounded by their creativtiy, individuality and artistic skill!
