Principal's Report

 - Tania Sorbello

This week, our hearts are filled with sadness after hearing of the tragic passing of eleven year old Jack Davey of Auburn South Primary School. Jack was a keen and energetic member of the Glen Iris Gladiators Football Club, a team many of our students have played against. We would like to express our deepest sympathy to Jack’s family and our hearts and thoughts are with the students, staff and community of Auburn South Primary School as well as the broader community. A Go Fund Me page has been established to support Jack’s family. Please follow the link below if you would like to donate:

Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden

The planning for the 2025 re-introduction of the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden program is well underway. This term we welcomed Lucy Ballard to the FNPS team to lead the re-establishment of the program. Lucy has many plans for the space and is currently working with our Art teacher, Maddi, on a Legacy Art Project for our Year 6 students to beautify the external stairwell and SAKG entrance. Head over to Lucy’s page in this week’s newsletter to find out more.

Student Free Day

A reminder that Monday 4 November 2024 is a student free day. This day has been allocated as a whole school Professional Practice Day for our teachers who will spend this time moderating assessments and preparing reports. TheirCare are taking enrolments on this day if required.

Upcoming Prep Transition

It’s that time of year again, where we welcome a new community of students and their families to the FNPS family. In the coming weeks, the 2025 Prep Transition Days will be held on the following dates:

Transition Session 1: Thursday 14th November 2024

Students are placed into groups and rotate each week through range of school activities, including Play Based Learning, Visual Arts and the Perceptual Motor Program.

N.B. The groups for these sessions are not your child’s 2025 class.

Transition Session 2: Thursday 21st  November 2024
Transition Session 3: Thursday 28th  November 2024
Orientation Day: Thursday 5th December 2024

Your child spends the morning in their new classroom with their new teacher and classmates.

Transitioning to school can be a daunting task for the children and families alike. Make sure to say hello to a new face when you see them in the yard!
