Inquiry- Biological Sciences
3/4 students were bursting with excitement for Inquiry this week as we experimented to discover the role of the wind in seed dispersal.
Students were given three balloons and ten pieces of confetti per balloon, each representing a dandelion and its seeds.
We needed to ensure that our experiment was a fair test, so we discussed what a fair test means. As a group, we are developing our understanding of the scientific process and learning how to conduct an investigation.
First, we made sure that we had precisely ten pieces of confetti. The balloons were blown up to the same size, and we used rulers to mark where we would stand and how high the balloon would be when we popped it.
Then, we measured the distance of our furthest piece of confetti and mapped out the distribution of the seeds.
Honeycomb!
This week Abby and Edmund brought in a fresh honeycomb for the whole school to try. There were raving reviews from the students who mentioned that it was the best honey that they have ever had! We are so lucky to be able to have some amazing produce come from our very own farms!
