At St. Mary’s, we are thrilled to announce our participation in Magnify Sandhurst, a new Diocese-wide approach to learning and teaching that has been launched with us preparing to roll it out in the classroom from 2025. This exciting initiative is grounded in the latest educational research and promises to enrich the way we engage students, initially in literacy and numeracy, however, this will expand further over the coming years. Our teachers have been hard at work preparing for this significant shift, dedicating time to professional development sessions as we learn more about how we will implement this next year. The Magnify Sandhurst program comes with a strong commitment to resourcing and supporting our educators, which will, in turn, help our students thrive. We look forward to seeing the benefits unfold in the classroom as we embrace this new approach and will continue to share relevant information with the community as the program develops.
Last Friday, our school community came together for a wonderful shared BBQ in celebration of World Teachers Day. It was a fantastic opportunity to express our heartfelt thanks to all the teachers who make a difference in our students’ lives. Special appreciation goes to Ibu Cath and Miss Fenwick for their dedicated work and positive impact at St. Mary’s. Their commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment does not go unnoticed, and we are incredibly grateful for their contributions.
As we look forward to the Inglewood Alive Festival this coming Sunday, we want to extend a huge thank-you in advance to all families and community members who have volunteered to help us prepare for the event or support on the day. The festival offers a great chance for our school to connect with the wider community, and we’re excited to share this experience with everyone. If you’d still like to lend a hand, we would love your support – together, we can make it a memorable day for all!
Today I had the pleasure of accompanying our Grade 5 students to Marist College Bendigo so they could attend the St Vincent de Paul local conference. The students prepared a presentation on one the social justice activities they had participated in and were looking forward to hearing from students from other schools about ways to raise awareness and support those in need. We look forward to an update from the students in the next newsletter.
