Mandarin

This year, the BEPS Mandarin curriculum engaged students with four vibrant 'Big Ideas' designed to inspire curiosity and deepen the students' understanding of the world around them.

In Term 1, students explored what it meant to be part of a healthy community. Through immersive activities and collaborative projects, they investigated nutrition, well-being, and the importance of social connections, all while enhancing their Mandarin language skills.

In Term 2, our young explorers dived into the wonders of nature. Students learned about ecosystems, biodiversity, and conservation, cultivating their appreciation for the environment and the role they play in protecting our planet, all communicated through engaging Mandarin storytelling and discussions.

In Term 3, students were inspired by the excitement of the Olympics. They explored the history, values, and sportsmanship behind this global event. Through research and creative expression, they learned about different Olympic sports, celebrated athletes, and the cultural significance of the Games, all while building their Mandarin vocabulary and fluency.

In the final term, students grappled with the complex topic of changing populations and its implications for community dynamics and global citizenship. They explored migration, cultural exchange, and the importance of diversity, equipping themselves with the linguistic tools to articulate their thoughts in Mandarin.
