Smoothie Bar Incursion
On Friday the 15th of March the Year 4 students participated in a Smoothie Bar Incursion. The students collaboratively worked in teams to develop their own smoothie shop, logo, slogan and yummy smoothies which they got to drink. This incursion connected with our Inquiry Investigations Term 1 topic of Healthy Communities.
Healesville Sanctuary Excursion
On 19th of May on a Friday, the Year 4s travelled to Healesville Sanctuary Excursion to help with our Term 2 Inquiry topic 'Life on Land'. The students explored and observed different native Australian animals and their habitats they live in. The students also learnt about the aboriginals and how they used the land to live and survive in harmony with the land and the animals.
Inclusion Our Way Incursion
On Friday the 2nd of August the Year 4 students enjoyed a fun and interactive incursion called 'Inclusion Our Way', aligning with our Term 3 Inquiry Investigations topic 'Innovations, Game Changers and Change Makers'. Baruch, who has a rare genetic condition called CHARGE syndrome, along with his support person, Tracey, increased our awareness of human rights and the meaningful inclusion of people with disabilities in our society.
Camp Coonawarra
The Year 4 students enjoyed an incredible three-day adventure (October 28th - 30th) at Camp Coonawarra, where they basked in glorious sunshine. Camp Coonawarra offers an array of exhilarating and inspiring activities including a giant swing, high and low ropes courses, a flying fox soaring over the crystal-clear lake, canoeing, orienteering, archery, and even damper making. Each student bravely confronted their fears, embracing the spirit of adventure and creating unforgettable memories.
Didgeridoo Indigenous Incursion
On the 29th of November, the Year 4 students embarked on a journey to learn more about the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. In Didgeridoo and Beats, they worked with a master didgeridoo player, creating rhythm patterns with clap sticks and body percussion before dancing to an energetic blend of traditional sounds and electronic beats. During Song, Dance, and Storytelling, students learned traditional songs and dances while exploring Dreamtime stories and the deep cultural connections of Australia’s Indigenous people. Finally, in the Aboriginal Culture session, students handled authentic artifacts like boomerangs, emu eggs, and possum skin game balls, learned to make Aboriginal paint, and listened to fascinating insights about traditional crafts and seasonal customs.
Buddies
As the future leaders of BEPS, Year 4 students served as role models and embraced the responsibility of ensuring a smooth transition for the Foundation students. Throughout the year, the Year 4s connected with their Foundation buddies, participating in a range of games and activities designed to foster essential skills, while emphasising the BEPS school values and the 7 Habits of Happy Kids.
