Performing Arts

There has been no easing into Term 4 for our student musicians; we are away and flying!

At the end of Term 3, our Senior ensembles presented a Gala Concert, featuring all our Senior instrumental ensembles and choirs. The harmonic sounds of our large ensembles filled the auditorium, and the Senior Choir had everyone either crying or dancing. Our auditioned ensembles both entertained and displayed a high level of skills, including the barbershop presentation by some of the male vocalists. It was also great to include the Stage Band, featuring Simon Wang on vocals. This concert also gave us all the opportunity to acknowledge our Year 12s for their years of service to the College.

In Week 1 of this term, our wind, brass and percussion students featured in a Festival of Bands. This gave our bands the opportunity to present a series of lunchtime concerts, entertaining peers, staff and some parents. Our Junior and Senior Concert Bands combined to present some repertoire between their concerts! Other performances during the week were given by the Stage Band and the Year 7 Band. The Year 7 Band performance was included in School at Work.

Our VCE Music students gave stunning performances at their concert, with hours of disciplined rehearsal evident in their recitals. Much talent, hard work and maturity was on display in their work, met with much appreciation from the supportive audience.

The final Soirées for the year were also presented, featuring a high standard of work from all students and a wide variety of both instruments and repertoire.

Rehearsals for the Year Group Instrumental Concerts, a community Christmas Concert, Junior Final Assembly and Senior Presentation Evening are well underway, and students are keen to share these final performances with everyone.
