Reading - The Teesdale Way

Hello families,

Last term in the Teaching & Learning newsletter space, I mentioned our transition to the Victorian Curriculum 2.0 for English and Mathematics and their full implementation by 2025. Since then, I have attended a number of Department professional learning opportunities around the new initiatives and feel confident and proud about our approach to teaching and learning at Teesdale Primary School. Moreover, the ‘big’ changes to teaching phonological awareness, phonics, fluency and handwriting in the early years have been part of our embedded practice for a number of years. We have coined this the Teesdale Way!

Over the last year we have had ongoing learning walks that have involved teachers and leaders from the Central Highlands Region, visiting our school and observing our literacy classrooms. With the Department Curriculum initiatives, this has meant a very busy Term 3 and 4 with visitors each week. As a PLC Link school in our network, this is both a privilege and our responsibility, to share our practice as government mandates unfold.

I think it is poignant to recognise and celebrate that our students and teachers do not put on a show when we welcome other educators into our school. We are going about our daily routines and focusing on our work, teaching and learning.

Book Club

Scholastic Book Club is a service offered to students, parents and teachers. Brochures advertising a variety of books and computer software are sent home with each student, approximately twice a term.  

Purchase of the books is not compulsory and there is no obligation. If you do wish to purchase any goods simply log into the Book Club site www.scholastic.com.au/LOOP and follow the prompts. All Book Club orders must be ordered and paid for via LOOP. Do not send order forms and cash to school. When the order arrives at school, books are sent home with students.

The School earns “Bonus Points” for each order which can be used to purchase new resources for the Library.

How to order 

Click on ORDER in the top menu or REGISTER first to save your details for the first time.  Select Teesdale PS and your child’s class.  Add your child’s name and last initial. Enter the item number from the brochure. 

You can order for multiple children at once. All orders are linked directly to the school.  

Our school receives bonus points, which are redeemed for a variety of books for the children therefore we thank you for your continued support.

If parents wish to collect orders personally from the office, please let the school know.
