YEAR 8

Year 8 Key Information

  • Congratulations to the Principal's Award recipients! At last week's College Assembly, we proudly recognised many Year 8 students with Principal's Awards. Several of these outstanding individuals have received multiple awards throughout the year. These awards celebrate students who consistently demonstrate our five guiding principles - dignity, empathy, dialogue, community, and perseverance - both in and out of the classroom. We commend these students for their exemplary behaviour and positive contributions to our school community.

  • This week in our Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) program, students will explore how their sense of self has developed based on their personal values. We will examine how others perceive them and discuss how they may present different versions of themselves in various situations while considering whether these adaptations affect their core identity. This lesson builds on our year-long focus on self-awareness and aims to deepen students' understanding of their unique personalities and experiences.

Whole of College Key Information

  • Students are currently engaged in learning across all their classes and will begin formative and summative assessment pieces over the coming weeks. We encourage parents/carers to print a copy of the assessment planner and place it in a central location for review to ensure deadlines for drafts and finals are met.

  • We encourage parents/carers to reach out to classroom teachers for support and questions regarding their child's engagement in learning should it be necessary. All teacher email addresses can be found on the college website.

  • Good luck to Year 11 students with their final exams next week. We hope the hard work and dedication to your studies pay off.

  • This is a reminder that parents/carers must notify the college should their child be absent. This can be completed on the MyCE App, parent portal, or by phone or email to the college office. Attendance above 90% demonstrates positive engagement in learning that will set your child up for success.
