Year 5/6 Excursion

Last Friday the Year 5s and 6s went to the Immigration Museum. If you do not know what immigration means, it means people from other countries came to live in Australia. We all hopped on the train from Hampton to Flinder St and walked through the streets to get there. When we got there we all moved into one big room that looked like it was for ballroom dancing but it wasn't.  After that a man welcomed us and told us what the museum was about, and what we were going to see. Soon enough we split into 3 groups and went to different exhibits . In the first room I saw you  got to vote if an immigrant could stay or not. There were also a lot of photos from back in the 40s and 20s. The second room that we got to see had a movie about people that had immigrated to Australia because their country was not necessarily the best place to live knowing that it wasn't safe. Sadly we couldn't look any further because we had to leave. It was extremely fun!

After the Year 5s and 6s went to the Immigration Museum in the city, we went to a museum called ACMI which is a museum of moving pictures. ACMI stands for Australian Centre for Moving Image. Also it was where the video game the untitled goose game was created. As well as learning about the game we also got to play it. It was really fun and we also played other games like Pacman. When we arrived at ACMI we got these little cards  that had a code on it and on every moving picture and activity you could save your progress by simply tapping these little cards on this little picture. When it turned blue it meant that it had been saved. When we got home there was only one simple step to see everything that you have saved on your card. You would get on the ACMI website and enter your code and then you could see all of the videos and information that you had saved! Anyway we all had a blast at the ACMI centre and it was so fun.
