From the Principal

As we begin Term 1 2025, we are filled with excitement and anticipation for the year ahead. Whether you’re rejoining us or stepping into the Kambala community for the first time, we extend our warmest welcome. It was wonderful to meet many of you at the KPA Welcome Cocktail Party on 31 January, and I was able to witness firsthand our exceptional community interacting and enjoying themselves to celebrate the start of the academic year.

I trust that you all had a relaxing break, filled with moments of rest, reflection, and connection with loved ones. The beginning of a new year brings a sense of optimism, a fresh start, and endless possibilities. It’s a time when we all look forward to new adventures, growth, and achievements. At Kambala, this sense of excitement is particularly palpable as we embark on what promises to be another extraordinary year.

2025 is set to be filled with transformational learning. We are committed to creating an environment that inspires curiosity, fosters creativity, and promotes excellence. With a focus on innovation, we are excited to continue offering opportunities that will help our students grow academically, socially, and emotionally. As part of our mission to educate our girls to be globally minded citizens who think broadly, cherish humanity and appreciate diversity we are proud to announce that Kambala has been accepted to become part of a prestigious global consortium of schools who offer the Global Citizenship Diploma (GCD)

The GCD serves as a formal credential that recognises and certifies a student's commitment to the values and competencies of global citizenship. Designed to complement traditional academic qualifications, the GCD will provide our students with a structured framework to develop and demonstrate skills such as intercultural understanding, ethical leadership, social responsibility, and global engagement. By requiring students to engage in reflective learning, service initiatives, cross-cultural experiences, and leadership opportunities, the diploma validates their ability to think critically about global issues and contribute meaningfully to diverse communities.

As an additional certification, the GCD will enhance Kambala students' academic and professional profiles, offering universities and employers a clear indication of their preparedness to navigate and positively impact an interconnected world. We look forward to working with consortium schools to develop the Global Citizen Diploma over the coming years.

As the only school in Australia offering this prestigious opportunity further develops Kambala’s unique opportunity to develop and nurture a truly global sisterhood.

Closer to home, over the summer break we refurbished the Fernbank Boarding House, in readiness for our boarding girls to move in for Term 1 2025.  We held the re-opening celebration with our current boarding families and staff two weeks ago, and all were delighted with the refreshed and refurbished welcoming boarding home. To learn more about this, please read the Boarding section of this newsletter. We also spent time completing the final series of The Kambala Voice’s “Futurism” podcast which has been very well received. With our podcasts growing in popularity each year we enjoy producing our 30-minute thought provoking topics through this platform. To listen please go to Sundial, Spotify and Apple podcasts.

As we look ahead, we are excited to see how each individual student will flourish throughout the year. Together, as a community, we will continue to support one another, embrace new challenges, and celebrate all the achievements that come with growth and learning.

2025 will be a year filled with unforgettable moments, new friendships, and the kind of personal growth that Kambala is known for. We are thrilled to be a part of your family’s journey and can’t wait to see what this year holds for each and every one of our girls.
