CIS Awards
On Friday afternoon I had the privilege of attending the NSWCIS Awards Ceremony, celebrating outstanding achievements from 2024 athletes and officials. Anthony de Popolo (Year 12) received a CIS Blue Award for Diving in recognition of him making the 2024 NSWCIS Diving Team, the 2024 NSW All Schools Diving Team and receiving a Silver Medal in the Springboard event when competing at the School Sport Australia Championships. This award also recognised Anthony’s enthusiasm and support of other divers in his team. Well done Anthony, you should be very proud!
First and Second Cricket
After strong finishes to the season, both our First and Second XI have secured home semi-finals, both against St Pius X College making a huge showdown of EREA schools! Both games start at 10:00 AM with the Second XI playing at Hudson Park and the First XI playing on Breen Oval. The P&F will be putting on a barbeque at Breen Oval, get down and support the boys. Best of luck to all involved.
Baseball
The First IX and U 16 Baseball teams have both secured second place on their respective ladders, therefore earning semi-final fixtures this Saturday. The First IX will play Five Dock Bigs at 11:00 AM at Majors Bay Diamond 1, while the U 16 team take on Greenway at 8:30 AM at the same venue. Get down and support the boys! Best of luck to all involved.
Basketball
With the ISA regular season now over, there are eight SPC teams still alive with the 17 B, 17 C and 14 C teams securing first place and going straight to the grand final on 15 March - congratulations to those teams. The 17 D, 15 B, 15 C, 14 A and 13 A teams play semi-finals this weekend. Best of luck to all involved.
I would like to send out a huge thank you to the coaches, parents/carers and most importantly, players in SPC Basketball teams whose seasons have come to an end. Your hard work and dedication throughout the season is truly appreciated.
Reminder
When attending Saturday fixtures boys should all be in full Supporter’s uniform.
All cheering should be positive and directed solely to SPC teams, no negative attention to the referees or opposition.
In the unlikely event that a boy is sick and unable to attend their fixture, a medical certificate should be sent through to me and their coach as early as possible.
Boys should arrive 30 minutes before their game at the latest.
Injured boys are to attend their team fixtures in support, unless the fixture is outside of Sydney.
Staff from other schools should be treated with the same respect as SPC staff and any requests or instructions should be followed immediately.
Failure to do the above will result in consequences.
Swimming
The Christian Brothers Carnival is a meet with strong opposition, particularly from Waverley College. The St Patrick’s squad competed admirably, and all swimmers performed well representing the College splendidly.
Although hampered by injury and illness, the team finished in a competitive third place.
Congratulations must go to Austin Hall, Nicholas Macher, Jack McDonald and Ryan Kim whose 17 years freestyle relay team was placed first. The 15 years freestyle relay team of Patrick McDonald, Stefan Storino, Jerry Di Girolamo and Archie Behan placed second. Finally, our 13 years freestyle relay team of Tyler Ladden, Thomas O’Neill, Henry Simms and Sebastian Natalegawa also placed second on the night.
Swim Vice Captain Mark Hanna swam the 100m open freestyle championship race, hampered by injury, but competing for points. He demonstrated commitment to the team, as did all squad members.
Well done SPC swimmers!
