Trug Teachers- The BEST for your child!

Hi all,

At Truganina P-9, emphasis is placed on every individual student and supporting all our students with individualised documentation, conversations and goal setting to guarantee the skills they need to become life-long lovers of learning. To achieve this goal, staff model and apply their own love of learning by continuously assessing and improving their own teaching practice through professional learning. This week I want to spotlight the staff at our college for the relentless effort they put in to being their best, for our best, the kids.

Successful teaching at Truganina requires at least three things: Teacher collaboration, Teacher reflection, and Teacher wellbeing.

At Truganina, teams of teachers work in ‘Professional learning Communities’ (PLCs) to collaboratively design units of learning and individual lesson plans, so that we can guarantee that every child has access to the same quality of teaching. As the sayings go, “many hands, make light work” and “Two heads are better than one”.

Part of our professional responsibilities as

teachers include continuous reflection on the successes of our own practice and mentoring of new teachers as they develop their capacity. This year, Truganina P-9 greatly expanded the scope of its coaching, introducing a new coaching style informed by the text ‘The impact cycle’. Even teachers in leadership positions regularly engage in coaching opportunities to ensure their understanding of the science of learning is up to date. Beyond individual coaching, all staff at our school engage each week in whole-school or specialised professional learning to unpack the latest research.

Lastly, but perhaps most importantly, Staff Wellbeing is a privileged asset that sets the foundation of our teacher’s ability to present their best work each and every week. Part of our efforts in ensuring the wellbeing of our staff includes seeking and responding to their feedback on how to make their workplace more rewarding and professionally stimulating. An example of this, is changes that will occur in 2026 with the way we deliver Professional Learning.

All that being said, I hope you’ll join me in thanking all our staff for their daily efforts at continuous improvement for the benefit of our students. The amount of effort that goes into making sure we are collectively at our best is extraordinary.
