Student Voice

At The King's College, student voice is highly valued. The student leadership team meets regularly to discuss ideas and initiatives. Students are encouraged to share their feedback and suggestions with the College Captains, ensuring their voices help shape the school community.

Message from College Captains

Romi Andre and Kenneth Miano

As the year winds down, following a successful Term 3, I am pleased to share some notable events that have taken place here at The Kings College, alongside key highlights and from this term on behalf of the College Captains and the leadership team.

Term 3 began strong kicking off with Kings Got Talent in Week 4 followed by Book Week in Week 5. These events were opportunities for the students to demonstrate their school spirit and courage, with an overall high participation and high student engagement.

Other notable events included Generosity Day, the College’s opportunity to participate at the YOH festival, ACC cross country, the Arts and Technologies Showcase in Week 9, and the Fiji Immersion Tour at the end of the term. This term was packed with big events such as Spirit Week and EXO Day which demonstrated high student engagement all around.

From the Student Leadership team, our focus again went towards Breakfast Club alongside various fundraisers such as the Cookies and Milo in Week 4 to the sausage sizzle fundraiser in week 7 for the 40 Hour Famine World Vision Fundraiser.  This effort was the first to cater towards both the primary and secondary campuses. The 40 Hour Famine had been at the centre of the majority of the leadership’s meetings, with a hope for a larger and greater initiative to continue the 40 Hour Famine in 2026.

Where to even begin describing what God did on Friday? We saw the fruits of all our prayers in ways we never expected. EXO Day was themed "There is Freedom" from 2 Corinthians 3:17.

We had the honour of hosting Christian youth leaders from across the city from different churches, including some of our Alumni, who led the worship.

The day was filled with joy, praise, worship, teaching and encountering. The last session will forever hold a place in my heart as we saw hundreds of students respond to the invitation to encounter God. Students poured out of the aisles and came down to the altar in response to one of our Alumni's invitation to salvation. They got on their knees with their hands raised to heaven as they experienced an indescribable love. Many students left school that day crying as they encountered the King who saved them.

Many students also received freedom from fear, anxiety and other strongholds in their personal lives as they responded to the invitation extended by God. Over 80 students gave or rededicated their lives to follow Jesus. All glory, honour and praise go to Him, and Him alone.

On 22 August, I, along with a group of students from my school, was honoured to be given the opportunity to minister to many different people across our city. It was such a privilege to use the musical gifts and talents God has blessed us with, and to stand together in glorifying His name through worship. One of the most meaningful moments for me was singing the song "Goodness of God" with others. The lyrics reminded us of God's faithfulness, and as we sang, I could feel His presence moving among us.

What made the experience even more special was that we weren't only singing with people from our school, but also with many people of different backgrounds across the city. Coming together as one body of Christ, united in prayer and worship, was powerful and encouraging. It was also incredibly inspiring to see young people from different schools setting aside time to serve God, whether that was through ushering, speaking or praying.

We were so blessed to have the Governor of Perth join us and share a few words of prayer. This was a reminder of the importance of faith being lived out publicly and the impact it can have when people in leadership also acknowledge God.

I left the event feeling uplifted, encouraged, and grateful. I am truly thankful for such a wonderful opportunity to praise God with others, to be a part of something bigger than myself, and to witness how He is at work in our city.
