Week 9 Greetings
As we move into the final stretch of the year, it’s hard to believe there are only two more weeks left to go. This is always a busy part of the term, with students juggling final learning tasks, celebrations, and various end-of-year events. During this busy period, we kindly remind families to ensure children are getting plenty of rest, time to unwind at home, and consistent sleep routines. Adequate downtime makes a significant difference to students’ wellbeing and their ability to finish the year positively.
今年度も残り2週間となりました。この時期は教室内での学習のみならず、さまざまな行事などでとても忙しい時期となります。気温の差なども加わり子供達も少々疲れを感じているようです。リラックスした時間や、十分な睡眠を心がけながら、最後まで乗り切りましょう。
Meet the Teacher Day
Next week, we are excited for our Meet the Teacher Day on Thursday 11 December, when students will spend time with their 2026 teachers and classmates. Each child has been carefully placed into classes, and we have made sure that every student has at least one peer from the friendship preference list they completed earlier in the term. We understand that some children may feel disappointed if they are not placed with their first preference, but please be assured that their nominated friends have been considered, and at least one of them will be allocated in the same class. Our staff have spent a significant amount of time thoughtfully constructing class groups, taking into account students’ learning needs, social dynamics, and overall wellbeing to ensure each class is balanced academically, socially, and emotionally. We look forward to welcoming all students into their 2026 classrooms and beginning the transition to an exciting year ahead. 来週の12月11日木曜日のMeet the Teacher Dayでは、新しいクラスと先生が発表されます。2026年に向けて、新しい教室や、新しい仲間達と数時間一緒に活動します。毎年、クラスを構成するにあたり、それぞれの生徒にお友達の希望リストを書いてもらっていますが、Meet the Teacher Dayの後に、第一希望のお友達と一緒になれなかったことに落ち込んでしまう生徒もおります。子供達には必ずしも第一希望の友達と一緒になれるわけではないことを説明しておりますし、希望リストからは必ず少なくとも1人の生徒が同じクラスに入るように確認しておりますので、あらかじめご了承ください。2026年の教室に生徒達を迎えることを楽しみにしております。
Snapshot from the Classroom
In our Year 3/4 classrooms, students have been exploring States of Matter as part of their Inquiry learning. This unit has been meaningfully connected to Literacy-Japanese lessons, where students have been learning the terms and relationships between solids, liquids, and gases. During my recent visit, students proudly demonstrated their understanding by acting out the changes that occur when each state of matter is heated or cooled. This creative approach not only showcased their grasp of the concepts but also allowed them to express their learning in an engaging and memorable way. Many students shared that they enjoyed discovering new vocabulary through drama, and they confidently used their newly acquired terms to explain their understanding. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and the depth of learning taking place. 3・4年生のクラスでは、総合科の授業で物質の状態について勉強しています。これに関連付け、日本語の授業では液体、個体、気体などの新しい単語を学び、それぞれの物質が熱や冷気によりどのように変化をするか学びました。この理解を表現するために、生徒達はそれぞれの物質になりきり劇を披露してくれました。このユニークな方法で物質の状態を正確に日本語で説明できるようになりました。3・4年生の素晴らしいパフォーマンスでした。
