Yarrabing Celebrates National Science Week: A Focus on Species Survival

From the 12th-16th August, Yarrabing embraced the excitement of National Science Week with the theme, "Species Survival – More than Just Sustainability." This theme highlighted the crucial role of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and prosperity of diverse species in our ever-changing world.

Students had the opportunity to engage in a variety of activities that sparked their curiosity. They explored disease-causing organisms, life-saving chemicals, clean water, photosynthesis, genetic screening, the physics of building structures, artificial intelligence, and microplastics. These investigations culminated in the creation of thought-provoking Awareness Campaigns.

A highlight of the week was the 'Escape Room Challenge,' where students faced eight thrilling puzzles. Each challenge was inspired by the real-world skills needed for conservation work and species survival, with the ultimate goal of securing the safety of endangered animals.

National Science Week at Yarrabing was a great success, igniting a passion for science and a deeper understanding of the vital role it plays in our world.
