This week during Garden Club, our students planted a range of indigenous plants including Victoria's floral emblem, the Common Heath (Epacris impressa)... You might see this plant growing wild in the bush or on the steep, rocky banks along the Melba Highway around the Castella area. It has narrow, pointy leaves and displays an abundance of tubular flowers throughout winter, which are enjoyed by many insects as well as the stunning Eastern Spinebill.
Students also watered and tended to our growing vegetables.
