Assistant Principal's Message

Behaviour Management Policy

At St Anthony’s we actively teach and reinforce desired behaviour while implementing consistent, reasonable and mostly positive intervention to address challenging behaviours. Preserving and building student self-esteem and image as well as encouraging self-monitoring behaviour are fundamental components of a positive approach to behaviour management. These principles are aligned with the Schoolwide Positive Behaviours for Learning and the Restorative Justice Practices.

Nationally Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD) 2024

What is the NCCD

The Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) takes place every year.

The NCCD is a collection that counts:

  • the number of school students receiving an adjustment or ‘help’ due to disability
  • the level of adjustment they are receiving to access education on the same basis as other students.

Students are counted in the NCCD if they receive ongoing adjustments at school due to disability. This help allows them to access education on the same basis as a child without a disability. The NCCD uses the definition of disability in the Disability Discrimination Act 1992. Schools provide this information to education authorities.

In deciding whether identified students are to be included in the NCCD, teachers and school teams use their professional judgement, based on evidence, to determine the level of adjustment each student is currently being provided with.

In the NCCD, there are four levels of adjustment:

The frequency and intensity of the adjustments increases through the levels of adjustment.

Teachers and schools rely on evidence to make professional judgements about the adjustments provided for students. This evidence will reflect a wide range of practices of teachers and schools in meeting the educational needs of their students consistent with obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act 1992, the Disability Standards for Education 2005 and best teaching practice.

International Competitions & Assessments for Schools (ICAS)

ICAS is a series of competition assessments, set at a challenging level, which focuses on problem solving skills. Students who sit ICAS are asked to demonstrate a deeper, integrated, and thorough level of learning. The assessments are suitable for students wishing to extend themselves academically and take up the personal challenge of competing in an international assessment.

ICAS assessments can serve as a valuable tool for parents to gain insights into their child's academic performance, make informed decisions about their education, and support their learning journey effectively.

The exams are available to students in Years 2 to 6. The test will be administered BEFORE SCHOOL at 7:45am in the Year 4 classroom and will be supervised by a teacher at the school.

The following table shows the exams and the dates on which the exams are held. The cost per test is indicated below.
