The National History Challenge is a free research-based competition for Australian students. It gives students a chance to be historians, researching world history, examining Australia’s past, investigating their community or exploring their own roots. It emphasises and rewards quality research, the use of community resources and effective presentation. More information
Songwriting Competition
JMC Academy is running a Songwriting Competition for students across New South Wales, ACT, Victoria and Queensland in years 9-12. The competition aims to highlight the talent of high-school songwriters from across the country and to showcase the creativity of young people. More information here
Creative Futures Design Competition
Young designers and creatives are invited to find ways that help make local communities inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable.
Submit a design that helps envision the future we want to live in and design for a more equitable, accessible and sustainable world.
Think Science Competition
Think Science! is back for 2024. A free, nationwide science competition for primary and secondary school students in Years 3 to 10, Think Science! encourages students to perform an investigation using the Science Inquiry skills from the Australian Curriculum and document their process and findings in a video. Over $10,000 in prizes are on offer for winning schools and students.
The Science Experience
The University of New England (UNE) and UNE Discovery along with “The Science Experience” team invite students from all over NSW with a passion and interest in science in Years 9 and 10 to join us in Armidale in the NSW New England for a 3-day science camp from 9-11 July 2024.

Thank you. Parents/guardians will need to book directly with The Science Experience to register. Accommodation details will then be emailed to parents of registered participants.
